Tom & Ann Hunnicutt Family YMCA
The Achievers Program at the Tom & Ann Hunnicutt Family YMCA is a college and career readiness initiative that empowers teens to explore life beyond high school. Through engaging workshops, guest speakers, college tours, and career exploration activities, participants gain critical skills in leadership, time management, self-advocacy, effective communication, and more. A key focus of the program is exposure — to higher education, professional pathways, and community leaders who inspire teens to set and achieve ambitious goals. Teens grow in confidence and character through hands-on experiences that prepare them to thrive academically, socially, and professionally throughout the year. Adult mentors play a vital role in the success of this program. As a volunteer, you’ll have the opportunity to build meaningful connections with teens, offer guidance, and serve as a positive role model. Your time and support can have a lasting impact — not only on the lives of local youth, but on your own personal growth and connection to the community.

The YMCA prides itself on maintaining a clean and orderly building. Facility Services volunteers play a key role in prioritizing member safety and take pride in presenting a friendly, aesthetically pleasing, safe, and healthy setting for the YMCA members and visitors. Facility Services Volunteers assist our center staff in maintaining the facility and its grounds. Inside, volunteers may be asked to wipe down wellness floor machines, fold towels, vacuum carpets, or dust mop floors, wash windows, and assist with other tasks to keep our branch in tip-top shape. Occasionally, assistance needed outside of the building may include trash cleanup or helping with placing event signage or decorations, for example.
