The Northern Neck Family YMCA is committed to providing high-quality programs and membership in a caring environment, regardless of an individual’s ability to pay. The funds raised at our Festival of Trees event help children learn, adults grow, and families strengthen. When financial assistance is needed to pay for these life-enriching programs, the funds raised at our event provide the resources. The actual event will be held on Saturday, December 7, at the Northern Neck Family YMCA for fellowship, a fabulous meal, and raising resources to support our community.

First Tee - Virginia Peninsula
Assist the Lead Coach during classes in accordance with the day’s lesson plan. Responsibilities include following First Tee Code of Conduct, exhibiting First Tee Core Values and Life Skills, building relationships with the participants, and coaching in accordance with First Tee Philosophy. Three references and a volunteer training are required prior to coaching in class. Please email the Program Director, Noelle Larson, at noelle.larson@ymcavp.org with your three references (names and phone numbers) and for the next volunteer training date.

Luter Family YMCA
Learn to swim provides an opportunity for second graders in the community to learn to swim. As a volunteer with the Learn to Swim Program you will assist YMCA staff and instructors with water skills and teaching for all levels of swimming. Basic knowledge of swimming skills is beneficial but not required to volunteer. As a volunteer in the water you should be comfortable in the water as you will be working with children who may be apprehensive in and around the water. Along with a certified YMCA staff member you will work with each child on swim skills appropriate to their current swim level.

Assist staff caring for children while their parents exercise at the YMCA. Care for children 6 weeks to age 11 and engage in activities, crafts, games, story time and more, as appropriate by age.

In an effort to maintain and improve the garden area outside the Luter YMCA, we are seeking both volunteers and donations. Duties will include assisting with watering, weeding and planting as needed (we do not use chemical based weed killers or pesticides of any sort). Service time of one to two hours per week, with possible seasonal variations and considerable time flexibility. Skills and Experience required: A basic knowledge of plant care and use of gardening tools and physical capabilities to do light gardening. Donations also accepted: • Potting/Garden Soil • Blood Meal – Organic Fertilizer • Seeds • Mulch • Garden Tools/Watering cans (old and new accepted) • Cash donations
