Learn to swim provides an opportunity for second graders in the community to learn to swim. As a volunteer with the Learn to Swim Program, you will assist YMCA staff and instructors with in-water skills and teaching for all levels of swimming. Basic knowledge of swimming skills is beneficial but not required to volunteer. As a volunteer in the water, you should be comfortable in the water, as you will be working with children who may be apprehensive in and around the water. Along with a certified YMCA staff member, you will work with each child on swim skills appropriate to their current swim level.
